Hi, I'm a copywriter with about 10 years of experience. What are my chances of finding a job in Dubai at these times?

I am looking for a shift but hear that the market scenario out there is not that good at the moment. Would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to go about it. Thanks.

Hi Debjit, I'm in a similar situation. I remember back in the early noughties, my colleagues were fleeing UK agencies in droves heading for the good weather, high salaries and exciting atmosphere of Dubai. And now it seems to have really lost its momentum.  Of course it's still key to have a great CV and covering letter, and a tasty portfolio. But more than that, it seems recruiters now want more foreign language skills (and rightly so), and for candidates to already be somewhat part of the Dubai scene. They seem to be less amenable to candidates coming in 'cold' without referrals and contacts. I guess lots of networking online will help, better still in person if you're already there.

Good luck to you, and let me know if you have any tips to share once you've got yourself a great role.
