If you're simply dealing with a single face, draw a closed outline of any shape. When you complete the closed outline, the lines should change from thick (profile) to thin, denoting an edge that cuts through a face. At this point, you need merely select the area to be removed and hit Delete.

If you've already Push/Pulled the face to some thickness, instead of deleting the outlined area, Push/Pull it through to the opposite face, stopping the extrusion right on that opposite face. You'll end up with a shaped hole going all the way through the material represented by the two faces with faces all around the reveal of the opening forming the walls of the hole

Yes, it possible. Just make sure the dimension of the square can fit in a tube.

Q : How to make a hole in a spherical or arched shape like a room for example ?

A : One of the most difficult things to do in sketchUp is to make a door or a window in an arched wall.

CityDesign gives the secret.

1: Make the shape and continue with picture2.

2: Left click three times on the shape to select it

and then right click

> choose Make Group

3: Draw the shape of the hole or door you want to make in2D and face it to the shape where you want it to be

4: Extrude the2D shape into3D shape by using Push/Pull tool longer than the thickness of the wall or shape and group it as step2 from before.

5: Move the second shape right where you want the door to be

6 : from the solid tools bar choose trim tool and left click on the shapes to select them in that order.

note : if you cant find the solid tools bar go to > view > toolbars > check solid tools then click close.

7: Select the second shape and move it away or just delete it and you're done.

ill see if i can attach some pictures or links
