I am curious what is the background of this question....A sales manager is professionally in contact with his relations, but why can't you make friends this way? I have gained a lot of friends within my relations, but you need to be able to talk on private and business level with each other. the it is possible. And there is the bottleneck! Some persons cannot make the difference between business and private. but this is your feeling and experience with people , who to keep at a distance and who not

I always try to keep professional business relationships between myself and my customers but there are some customers get little lose and more friendly than i expect which is something i wouldn't hate on contrarily it make my presentaion shorter and i close deals faster.
