Leadership is the inspiration and motivation of your personnel. This can apply both in the military as well as in business.

As for training in general, very little of the training in the military is about fitness, (being fit is a benefit of the training.) The training is primarily about equipping you with the skills to perform when things start getting tough.

Military training proves to employer that the decisions one makes can be accomplished under extreme pressure without cracking. It also heavily accentuates the team concept, which translates into working with people of all different backgrounds. Attention to detail is also stressed. Professionalism and solid concise communication is also stressed. All these translate to business.

Robots cannot be lead - humans can. For me leadership is:

  1. Getting results through people. To achieve this requires
  2. A deep knowledge of self with an understanding that each person is unique and each one bears similarities and differences with others. This self-awareness helps a leader to
  3. Understand others better and appreciate both the similarity and differences we have with other people. This enables a leader to
  4. Know how to manage himself / herself
  5. To effectively manage relationships with others in achieving common goals and deliver results

Effective results oriented leaders use all the power, authority and influence at their disposal to value others to get to results. Leaders need to confront reality, that is not painting an only dark or pink picture but accurate representation of reality that compels others to willingly take appropriate actions and deliver beyond expected results. Leaders need to take the necessary tough decisions, whether business or people related when necessary and not sweep problems under the rug.

Leadership training is about inculcating the necessary competencies to value personal and interpersonal similarities and differences to people who want to develop such capabilities to get performances beyond expected results through others.

1.First, in all services, military leadership qualities are formed in a progressive and sequential series of carefully planned training, educational, and experiential events—far more time-consuming and expensive than similar training in industry or government.
Secondly, military leaders tend to hold high levels of responsibility and authority at low levels of our organizations.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, military leadership is based on a concept of duty, service, and self-sacrifice.
Leadership training2.A process by which the individual develops greater self-confidence, motivation, self-expression and other traits of leadership..
