What are some important questions to ask myself when managing my investment portfolio?

Some of the important questions to ask yourself include:

1. Is this investment complying with the rules of the Islamic Shari^ah?

2. What capital have I committed to investing in various investment channels? Am I re-investing the proceeds? If so, into what investment?

3. Is my investment portfolio out of balance? If so, what are the areas of concentration?

4. What is the value of each category of investments in my portfolio, and what would I like it be today, and in the near and long-term future?

5. What have I learned from the losses I made in each investment category?

6. What investments am I thinking of acquiring next, when, how much and why?

7. Will I sell something to do this, or will I invest new capital?

8. Who are the potential investors I can team up with to do shared investments? Are they trustworthy and experienced investors?

9. Have I studied the chapter of Zakat with a trustworthy scholar?

 

10. Am I keeping track of the timing and values of my investment proceeds to pay Zakat on them when Zakat is becomes due?

You need to know at which point to stop and reevaluate your portfolio as a whole 

simply make stop lose point and stop win point with my deadline

 

Do you think markets are efficient

If you actively manage the portfolio by changing the asset allocation, how do you determine what asset classes are good and bad value propositions

How do you make investment decisions

How have you performed throughout a complete market cycle

When was the last time your investment process failed

Are your returns back-tested

When managing my portfolio, I have to ask my self two important questions; first, What are the risks associated with each investment? And how to mitigate them? Second, What is the yield of each investment?. According to the answers of these two questions and with relation to my risk appetite I can manage my portfolio efficiently.
