A student needs to realize their grade depends on them doing the required assignments. If you let an assignment slide because the students don't want to do it, you lose control of the classroom. They will expect you to give in to them every time you give an assignment they do not like. I have the classroom rule all assignments are to be done as instructed. There are no changes and no exceptions.

Lessons should be lively. Students find writing classes dull so all teachers have to do is to bring eye-catching teaching aids to help students get through the process of revising their writing pieces. In short, the teacher can split them into groups and ask them to have peer checking according to color-coded revision organizer which the teacher has prepared in advance. Students should go through the chart or organizer and write their comments about their classmates' papers. At this stage, students are not only having fun acting like teachers, but also elaborating their evaluation skills. Then, the teacher call for the time of presenting papers after being modified.

Make them, do not hesitate to force them, they must know discipline

The best way to engage students in the education process is through letting them review each other's works. This is not only interactive method, but also, a great way to help students think objectively. Students will be all the time subjective when reviewing their own work, so there is really no point in asking them to review their work. Give them the standards by which they should judge each other's work, and then engage the whole class in the discussion. Do not interfere unless it is necessary, and remember, critical judgement doesn't mean students should search the errors in each other's works, but it also means they should search for the strongest points and also give suggestions on how the work can be modified.
