first a little correction is needed , its foley's catheter not folly's cheater. sterlization is an art which enables us to re use equipments without producing source of infection. also developing contries may have a step back in latest technology regarding sterilization such as plasma sterilization or gamma ray. but if we go to the cost effective method metalic instruments can be autoclaved easily . where as gloves & foley's catheter should not be sterilized as comparing their cost & quality .but as we know there are certain rubber made equipments , such as bronchoscope which is flexible . they can be sterilized before use with chemical sterilization fluids such as cidex.
