Do you know why normally doctors pose with crossed-arms while standing straight in almost all their photos especially for banners or profile?

Based on people believe, If someone crosses his arms, he is blocking others out and sending a negative message. I'm sure you have also heard about this. But I think it is not accurate.

Regarding silent body language,  let me inform you now that it is not. It is a simplistic misconception.

 Basically, The Self Hug of crossing arms of a doctor could be explained as appositive body language. You have probably noticed that doctors cross their arms more frequently in public rather than in private  such as in banners or social media profiles . In a way, it is like a self-hug and it's comforting for that moment. They do it while listening to a speaker or while waiting for a presentation to begin. From my view they are, of course, not trying to keep anyone away; they are just contributing to their own comfort, self confidence and enthusiasm . For the most part, that's why they do it. Ask someone in an audience with their arms crossed if they are comfortable and invariably they say yes, because they truly are.

Mostly it's to communicate seriousness. I noticed when working with new models and people who are not used to posing that the hardest part for them is figuring out what to do with their arms. The go-to pose with a lab coat for doctors has been the cross-armed look as it communicates some level of seriousness about their work. For me, personally, I would rather have a photo of them performing something like holding a microscope like they are about to look into it. That seems more natural to my eyes. But the cross-armed look kinda became a standard so we roll with it most of the time.
