Everything has its pros and cons. Modern gadgets with artificial memory have their own plus and minus points. They are good for kids since they get in touch with them at an early age and quickly become tech-savvy, which is inevitable since future work culture and job requirements are such that today's kids need to have all that digital thinking and experience. Of course, if kids depend only on gadgets to do even simple 2+2 = 4 calculation, they will never develop independent thought patters and become robotic kids. Health hazards are there and a necessary evil; even if you think you should avoid the gadgets because of health hazards, you cant, since they are all around you and it seems in future most of the work will be done through them. One example, look at how banking and currency has changed. Almost no paper used and no currency in your pockets - most of the time we are using plastic cards with a silicon chip. How can you avoid gadgets?

No technology is pure good or bad, and phones/tablets are no exception. In fact, many studies show that playing games in a young age can sharpen the eye-hand movement, coordination and effectiveness. Henceforward, gamers perform better and learn faster in any sensorimotor skill, such as riding a bicycle.

On the other hand, it is obvious that spending too much time on electronic devices can hurt the eye, limit the amount of physical activities and affect the overall social skills.

In conclusion, the key of defining whether technology is good or bad for little kids is all about finding the right balance of spending time on your device v.s. playing with your friend. Control the technology, instead of the technology controlling you.

Despite negative effects, they help a lot. Therefore, we can use it under supervision.

There are thorns with adorable flowers and there come hazards with technology. There is a limit that should be strictly followed by parents in this regard.

Before school going age keep your children from such devices. Only TV should be allowed with supervision for a limited time. At the school going age a limited access to computer and other screens is helpful in gaining technological awareness.

Tablets and other small screens are more harmful in many ways so it should be avoided at least till adulthood.

Technology is not bad but we need to learn its proper use to avoid its drawbacks.

I am not expert in that, but experts do say such use of these devices by kids may endanger their health.

  • Infants aged 0-2 years should not have any exposure to technology at all.
  • Children aged 3-5 years should be restricted to one hour per day.
  • Children aged 6-18 years should be restricted to 2 hours per day.

We're not wholly convinced that the same guidelines can be effective for the entire span of six to eighteen year olds; surely teenagers could be allowed, and even encouraged, to use technology more frequently than young children. But the guidelines are there to empower parents to make decisions regarding their children.

Technology itself doesn't create problems,. What matters is what we do with it. Just as you monitor the foods your kids eat, you should introduce quality media when they're ready, help them think about what they see and hear, and make sure they're not sacrificing time for homework, physical activity, family, or friends.
