What are the disadvantages of a being a freelance writer?

I really donot have any idea because I only had experience as an Artice Writer for just2 weeks,basically an internship it was.

Motivation can be the biggest disadvantage. If you require constant external motivation,  it'll become difficult to keep up as a long term freelancer. Quite often you're working alone, so you need to be self motivated. 

Another could be the pay, you won't necessarily make enough money right away, until you've gained experience and have built a great portfolio.  Once you've found your niche and have gained all I've mentioned, you can potentially live off your earnings.

Time is needed and a lot if you want to make a decent earning.  However if you put in the time (granted you can write) you will be gifted with the reward.

The biggest disadvantage is the absence of financial stability. You need to establish yourself with different entities then keep following up to make sure they don't overlook you. Other people show up sometimes and the competition gets heavy. Being a freelancer also requires time organization skills, otherwise you'll end up feeling like you're working24/7, always busy and yet not achieving much. If you have a part time job next to your freelancing, you can count on the fixed salary and enjoy the freelancing freedom. If you find this opportunity, hold on to it.

Most of the Freelance Writers face the biggest challenge of publishing their work. Just to write is not enough. You need it to publish and market to achieve ultimate satisfaction. As a freelance commonly you don't have enough funding to invest in  and a publisher doesn't take risk to publish your work.

Eventually most of the freelancers are forced to depart their hobby of writing as they start realizing that it is a useless effort which is not going to benefit me.

Thus the readers lose a lot of useful works by several competent Writers.

All freelancers share same issues I guess, If you have good connections you can always get yourself a job but if you don't it will be much harder to get by in the freelance business.

Also the lack of motivation, it could get old with time but you should keep yourself motivated and most importantly busy !
