What is the main difference between DVB-C system and Analog CATV system?

With DVB-C there is an encoder that streams in MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 to a decoder at home, whereas the analog CATV transmits pure analog radio frequency signals through coxaial cable.

Now that fibre-optic cables are used instead, you can easily encode and stream your programming whilst also packaging internet access to the customers at the same time due to the speed and capabilities of fibre. You will notice that the cable is installed into a wireless router and then another cable leaves the router and goes into the set-top box.
