Too much out of my specialty .. :) ..... as a child i would say reading books for parents may not be wrong.

Books are considered best friend in loneliness but sometimes it create great confusions in the mind of the reader. Especially at such an occasion. A humorous story,"A man who was a hospital", just came into my mind. The writer tells the readers that how he was led to misconceptions about himself when he read a book about common diseases. 

Anyhow, it doesn't mean that one should not benefit of the books. We should read stuff in accordance to our requirements but should not apply it without proper verification.

For a new parent, we might not know everything. Help will be always beneficial, whether it is from primary source or secondary source it will always count. You might take help of people who already have children, your mother advice, family members guidance. these all will be of great help to a new parent.
