What if the actual pump head at construction site is less than the selected pump head?

Suppose the calculated pump head is Meters but actual pump head required at site is meters. than what are the effects of this in terms of pump performance & power requirement?

If the actual head is lower than calculated then the working point will change to a higher flow rate.

you have to reselect the pump to know the new efficiency and the new power needed. its better to do it in selection program from the same supplier.

if the variation is to much you have to install a pressure regulator to fix the needed pressure.

you could make it manually by using the gate or plug valve at the outlet and a pressure gauge.

increasing the pressure losses in pipes (by closing the valve) will maintain the calculating pressure and reducing the flow.

The selected pump is over sized for the system. Probably a smaller pump with lesser power requirement could fit in well.
