the long term debt has a maturity that range from year to 5, the shorter generally less than a year

Long term debt are the debts which are to be settled after a period of one year such as loan note,debentures with a maturity period of more than months 

Short term debt are the debts which are to be settled within months period such as bank overdraft, Supplier payments
