We could use microbiological reaction (aerobic or anearobic reaction) to reduce COD.

In an Aeration tank dosing of UREA & DAP is done, effluent gets direct contact with air to dissolve oxygen in water, resulting in reduction of BOD & COD values upto 90%

1. Remove O&G by DAF System etc. 2. Remove TSS to reduce loading COD/BOD before biological treatment by DAF, Clarifier etc.May be you need to adjust pH to meet optimum reaction with chemical flocculant and flocculent 3. Biological process to reduce COD/BOD 4. Post treatment (settling to separate TSS generate by biological process). 5. Post treatment biocide before effluent flow to drainage  6. Belt Press, Filter Press, Centrifuge etc. to treat sludge

Try multimedia filters. containing sand, gravel and Activated carbon. Your BOD and COD will come down to 10-15%.
