Virtualization and Cloud Computing both are used to utilize computation resources.

Cloud computing is better to be described as a service, while virtualization is better to be described as a physical platform.

I see that you mean virtualization and not visualization.

Virtualization stands for using virtual resources (CPU, storage, or memory) and that could be used in Intranets or in the cloud. Cloud computing stands for using resources in the cloud as opposed to being in your Intranet.

Virtualization is a systems admin and data management tool that has many technical uses; most of which have nothing to do with the cloud. The technology allows enterprises to use a single piece of physical hardware, to perform the work of many. Multiple operating system instances running on one hardware device are far more economical than a single piece of hardware for every server task. Still, there is no direct link to the cloud from pure virtualization.

Cloud computing, on the other hand, is access through the Internet to business applications running in a non-local environment. Cloud computing can certainly take advantage of virtualization but cloud computing can be (and has been) accomplished without the use of virtualization.

Virtualization is a way to better utilize the resources available regardless of it being a server, storage or newtwork. It actully adds another layer on top of your hardware to let you logically assign resources to fit your need while maintaining the integrity of the tenents.

Cloud on the other hand is an approach which obviate the the view of the customer from hardware/storage/networking and other resources utilized to deliver his application/service/resources . It simply provides an interface to the customer that hides away all the other layers that enable their particular service.
