The supply of vitamin D by mouth is necessary in the early enfance period: given from birth until theth month of vitamin D drops at a dose of IU (international units) once daily  . For most infants with darker color, they will need a more important supplement from October to April, is IU once a day.

It should, moreover, take into account the degree of sunshine of the region in which the child lives, skin color, the type of breastfeeding (natural or artifcial as babies who are infant formula, already enriched vitamin D for infants do not require supplementation).

Note that moms who forget to give vitamin D daily can, to have a good treatment adherence, having a recour Repor every6 months in injectable form intramuscularly or orally.

Vitamin K should be administered preferably as soon as possible after birth

In a healthy newborn with a healthy mother it is rare that the child will need any dietary supplementation other than breast milk. In fact it is recommended that the child breast feeds exclusively for the first6 months of life unless there is an illness affecting the baby (eg. Malabsorption)  or affecting the mother (eg. HIV infection).
