  • The differences between making friends and professional Networking are much more subtle except for the fact one is more professional as in linked to one's career where as the other is much more for personal gratification (emotional stability etc). Both undertakings are concerned with bringing other people closer and can both be done technologically on Social Media or through actual face to face interactions.

  • Professional networking is much more targeted in terms of the people that one is trying to get closer to and they have much more things to offer such as jobs, mentor-ships, coaching, professional advice, products / services etc. Ideally it is best to approach this kind in a formal way as much as possible and to be as clear and concise as possible with one's intentions otherwise the whole exercise becomes uncomfortable and strange to the other party.

  • Making Friends is widely targeted, informal and can include both professional and non-professional individuals and sometimes to share thoughts, sports, interests, same personalities etc. This can have a casual approach

1. Making friends is very general and is strongly recommended to widen the horizon of getting info on any general topic, as you can easily get an answer via a survey of the majority people and come to conclusion.

2. Now when talking about Professional Networking, i think for professional people rather more important to have a stronger professional network than general friends due to certain reasons;

-> will update you about any opportunity

-> will help you out in any technical problem

-> Can refer you to a good firm which can expose you to a better environment

-> Entrepreneurial ideas can be shared as they are technical professionals

I would rather say to have some very specific friends of your specific field.

Best Regards.
