Integrating diversity in the workplace would take the form of;

  • Outreach programs such as internships, lectures at schools, scholarships.
  • Training and educating employees on culture matters
  • creating zero tolerance to issues of discrimination.
  • Formulating organisational policies that mandate fairness and equity for all employees.
  • Mentoring programs for minority groups in the workplace.
  • Non-discriminatory performance appraisal systems.

It all starts by finding a common ground a place where all the different cultures meet and you already have that. It is the work space and as everyone is coming to work on a certain project or cause then this improves the acceptance as long as the authorities at work are encouraging the differences to create a strong community. It is actually a great environment when you work with people from different backgrounds as they tent to have different perspectives about all the topics leading to more diversified brainstorming sessions. Yet for this to turn into an advantage some rules must be established within the work place to define the style of communication and more specifically criticism.
