Confine Space work activity is high risk activity according to NEBOSH. My personal experienced also indicated as like same as NEBOSH.

Of Course prior to any CSE jobs you need to have a work permit and in it all safety measures and checklist are highlighted. U/G gas pipes prior to any excavation given the work permit, needs to be located; using appropriate underground locates, some with a Ground Penetrating Radar. Any excavations deeper that1.4m like here in Aramco is considered as requiring CSE permit. Gas testing is critical. How much PPM or percentage H2S could be present anything less than percent O2 for example is a no no. Testing atmospheres should be done occassionally. Upon entry, PPEs PPEs PPEs guys!!! Any SCBA? r AirLine breathing apparatus? Lightings? Rescue Techniques? Standby personnel constantly assessing team mates inside CS. Watch out for O2 displacing and depleting agents. H2S at large proportion can ruin your olfactory mecahnisms and can cause immediate death and of course it is also flammable thats why you also pay attention to its LFLs, etc. Prior to entry do a HAZID and Control there you can formulate your Risk Assessment employing proper controls. In the desert watch out for sudden changes in weather conditions. In suburbs like that in the US pls dont forget your maintenance of traffic to let people know and motorists you are doing any CSE say in the middle of streets where gas lines may pass. That you wont have any issues with local enforcers as well. Dont forget your rescue techniques as well as equipment along with communications make sure nobody is left behind.
