If its a full blown eCommerce site i would suggest magento. since it has all if not most of the function you need for an eCommerce site. while on the other hand wordpress is just a CMS and its not really made for eCommerce. so if you would go for wordpress you have to modify it in such a way that you would make custom modules for it to function as an ecommerce site.
