I always wonder why people ask for local experience? I bet,they were new to themselves to the roles when they started their career. what do u think?

Local experience required in the UAE forget about GCC is a key requirement because if you have never worked here before and you assume you are well equipped for the opportunity then it doesn't matter how senior your role is, trust me you have much to learn.

Business, the processes, policies, ethics, culture and the rest has a huge impact on how business is convened here and don't take it for granted because key is sound trusting relationships for referrals and therefore a continuity of business. If you cannot master this technique in most key and significant roles whether executive or middle management, then you will not succeed.

So I totally agree that local experience is imperative for key roles.

Local experience in some job category is very important.   Now a days, all of us work in  team and local experience is an asset to understand the cultural sensitivity of the local staff members and to manage the team well. 

Everyone is newbie when they start their career. However when they progress their career further up, you will find that they have gone up their level by knowing that specific regions standards, regulations and other criterias/requirements which play a major role in business. So, deifnitely when hiring employees, if the person has knowledge and experience in that particular region then the time and energy needed to spent to make him/her competent can be saved.
