Employees are by nature consistently seeking affirmation on their performance. One of the basic and simplest ways to enhance their confidence level is to give them the proper orientation and adequate training to do their work. Let them grasp the technical knowledge and understand the mission of their work functions. Once they gain this awareness they begin to act more confident and aim to perform better. This is where the positive feedbacking starts for good performers and coaching for the non-performers. Coaching encourages the non-performing employees to reinforce the training and orientation given on the onset of employment. It also serves as a tool to let them feel that a support system is around to remind them that they can contribute more to the success of the organization. It is also the managements chance to ask the employee how they can improve operations, processes, system and others. Keeping them posted that they are doing great and are vital to the company makes them feel important and special. Also you can arrange regular meetings for one-on-one and collectively as a team to allow them to share their ideas, open up concerns and give recognitions thus letting them enhance confidence in themselves as contributors and develop trust in the management as leaders.
