Experience can come over a short or long time period.

Experience can happen to you whether you want it or not.

To earn experience is to stay in a position where you are willing to to deal with whatever comes your way, good or bad.  Willing to learn something new for the first time or train in a task which you can become quite accomplished.

Character will be tested to the limit and it is useful to be able to:

1. Trust in own skills and abilities and be quietly confident about what you can do.

2. Be prepared to listen and learn.

3. Be determined to see tasks and challenges through to the end.

4. Be persistent in finding ways of problem solving.

5. Develop good interspersonal skills, so that you can work well with other people of all levels as and when required.

6. Be able to work on own initiative.  Demonstrate that you can think for yourself.

7. Must definitely have that 'stick-to-it' mentality. Personal growth will develop as you learn about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses and how to do things differently in the future.

8. So remaining steadfast, professional and being aware of one's own personality will help you to keep on the right track in being able to deal with things as they come along - all of this can happen very quickly or over a period of time depending on how quickly you want to learn the lessons that lead to being experienced.

More appropriate terms that are relevent in today's business environment is 'skill' and 'knowledge'.  experience is one of the means of acquiring skills and knowledge.  Some people acquire more knowledge and skills with short experiences and certain others, in spite of long experience, do not develop adequate knowledge and skills.  So there is no importance in stating 'well experienced' but it is important to state 'skilled' or 'knowledgeable'.
