In your opinion, what is the difference between property management, facility management and asset management ?

The difference among the three terms are sometimes overlapping and may vary form company to company. As a general rule the meaning may be as follows:

  • Property Management: Managing the building, land and premises which include (Mechanical, electrical and Plumbing works),cleaning, security services and renting/leasing of the building.
  • Facility Management: It covers all aspect of Property Management except renting/leasing
  • Asset management: Management of asset above a specified $ value( IT equipment, Office equipment, Generators, Transport equipment) and Management of all aspect of property management

There are many terms reflect Facility Management such as Building Management, Property Management, Real Estate Management, Asset Management, etc...

However Facility Management is general term and it contains multi functions such as: Property Management, Real Estate Management (from a trading perspective), Operations and Maintenance, Technology, Business Continuity and Emergency Management, Finance and Business, Project Management, Quality, HR, etc...
