Sub-Contract Management is a crucial factor during turnkey projects. The only way to improve is to set the milestone payments upon RFIs and successful client inspections.

Project efficiency increases when the job is being done as per the layout plan or close to it (with minimal change orders). In short, the As-Built Drawings should be more likely to the IFC Drawings. This is a very specific response in return of a generic question but I guess this is what is relevant in most cases...

It is surprising that we don't see many answers to this interesting question.
