What is the difference between "Sale" & "Sales", are they used interchangeably?

It all depends in the context it has been put! For example a store advertising as "Sale" of its commodities means a discounted promotion, normally, for a limited period! Here the consumer has a direct relation

Sales on the other hand is the total worth of goods sold or expected to sell (forecast).This is more a management or operation related

Basically they are the same. But coming to strict business terms we can see the word SALES used to denote large volumes of quantities transacted and sale is when a single item is sold.

Sale refer to singular sale i.e at lower level but when we talk about sales it goes to a bigger platform engaging producers to customers  , sales and sale are somehow connected . Sales is plural while sale is singular , many sale sums up to make sales

I am working in Sales Sector for more then 7 years where i have serviced following industries:

 

1- Retail

2- B2B

3- B2C

4- C2C

 

all industries vary from product to product where we have to understand the situation of customer and his buying power. when we talk about "Sale" & "Sales" these are  different terminology as per my education and experience 

 

"Sale" is what i am selling 

"Sales" is what addition service / value which customer will get from my "Sale".

 

if my "Sale" is successful and additional "Sales" [ Value Addition ] brought some good experience for my customer then he will retain till the end of my life. it is also called business on the table. where you can do your Point of "Sale" & Action of "Sales".

The two words have a variety of meanings, but in general: 

"sale" is an individual action. If you buy an item, then the shop has made a sale.

In addition to being a simple plural,

"sales" is also used in a more abstract sense.

A business would have a "Sales Department" and its staff would work in "sales"
