Modern Technology started facilitating a vehicle to have SEATS, STEERING, SUSPENSION, BRAKES and INFOTAINMENT etc., are managed & assisted by various Electronically Controlled Units by sensing the individual behavioural pattern. First of its kind was introdunced for Engine through Engine Control Module.
These days technology started supporting various needs such, Comfort & Luxury besides Safety by managing SEATS, STEERING, SUSPENSION, BRAKES and INFOTAINMENT etc.,through respective Electronic Control Modules. When more than one modules are required, they are to be channelised by one common support. That is called Controlled Area Network. This connects various Electronic Control Units/Modules in the bus formation. This CAN Bus as detailed by our Friend Rabih Ghoussoub, is being used for such benefits also.
The CAN is a communication protocol used in vehicle to communicate between different control units.
It is a low cost solution/ cuts drastically the cabling required reducing weight and cost/ allows all control units to communicate between each other/ it is reliable and includes error check/ it's fast
