The foremost important factor in managing official time is avoiding conflict of interest. However there is possibility of accruing greater benefit to the company's interest when time is used on group work. On a practical ground, if there are group work and personal work to be done simultaneous, I would advise the time be used for group work first while your persona task can be taking later. One major reason is because your personal official task can be managed by you, but you will expect all members of the group to wait for u, thereby becoming idle with time and this in itself is against the company's interest.

I hope this answers your question.
