I mean to say that how can employers select the best canidate through online process?

Hi - One should make the opyimum use of technology, there are best websites available where people post their resume one can easily pick and choose, conduct the telephonic interviews than face to face etc.
rest are HR Deptt.
expertise and skills they can utilise to mitigate the risk..

It is incorrect to think that internet hiring is a replacement for the earlier conventional hiring process.
 In fact it is complementary to the process.
 The advantages of making the database of prospective employees available on internet is that (a)  it eliminates the need for inviting applications through costly print and other electronic media; (b) it eliminates the need for scrutinizing millons of applications sent by prospective employees; (c) it becomes easy for the organization to shortlist candidates and (d) it makes the two-way communication easier and faster.
 However, if you think that you can eliminate the core practice of hiring through internet, such as the interview process or the testing of knowledge and skills, you will end up hiring unsuitable candidates.

i believe that HR is loosing sight of what is really important.choosing a candidate is as vital as having the right strategy,at the end employees good or bad are the ones who are going to implement goals and stregies of the company.

a company must accept failure if their staff fails to deliver excellence.

a company is made of employees,HR department and head must meet,filter,and hand pick the best candidates that really add value and deliver excellent results.

internet hiring is not an accptable solution for a successfull enterprise with keen interests in success

YOu can short list the Employees through Internet how ever selection should be done through the local job agents & other local Agents in respective employee country which help to reduce the risk of scanning the qualification ,working experiance,referees & etc.

Check, Counter Check, Re-check and verify the findings....

 

One biggest challenge on hiring over the internet would be that you have never met the person and they come from all over the globe.

 

Step one,simple check is collect background information,ask for more details and recent photos,invite for conference interviews rather than just telephone ones,run background check on social media,cerify with previous employers,check friends and colleagues on twitter,school,facebook,linkin etc.Finally,refer to local agents ,credit reference bureaus etc if still in doubt.
