Environmental Audit of a Manufacturing Activity is about verification of overall environmental performance of this Activity against the set performance indicators, e.g. Material (including water & energy) consumption, Efficiency & Efficacy of Pollution Control Systems, Waste generation, etc. in order to monitor the efforts for material conservation, environmental compliance, and waste minimisation.

Audit of an Environmental Management System (EMS) is about verification of compliance to the pre-set requirements of EMS that basically help maintain and improve overall environmental performance of the Activity by improving environmental management.
