I want to pursue the field of Electrical System Design.?

I am an Electrical Engineer and my Majors in graduation were in the field of Power Systems. Currently i am working as junior Electrical System Design and i know there is a long way to go before i will become a specialist or professional in this field.

I want to ask the specialist in this field that what traits and skills i should develop in the mean time so that after5 to10 years i'd become a successful Electrical design Engineer.Your response will be highly appreciable.

Knowledge is a power and stick to it. As much technical knowledge you can get, will be beneficent for your future.  The field of designing needs extensive knowledge in all aspects. Another thing you must be well versed in engineering software like ETAP, Paladin design base, SKM, Micro-Station, AutoCAD etc.
