Hybrid clouds can enable organizations to be more agile only if used strategically and in the right way. There are a number of different versions of hybrid could solutions, so really the need is to define the immediate and3 year out requirements the business has and look for hybrid solutions that meet those.
Some times a hybrid might be good to start, but the long term needs can only be met with an internally hosted solution, and other times vice versa. So approach the problem as a set of requirements that are agreed upon by users/business/IT/Security and work from there. I have seen organizations try to jump into external clouds before engaging Security, only to be forced back off the solution.
Very often Security and Data Ownership concerns over rule user needs to be responsive, so get the requirements first and follow an architecture review process to find the proper solution.
