I think, the exact job of Analyst is to conduct research and "SWOT" based on comparison.
Where we are? to what extent we have achieved our short term objectives? what other banks are doing? and then s/he recommends......
Just want to add sometimes an analysts job is outsourced to a KPO. ITES. Then ur job role becomes doing the SWOT analysis of the bank in different geographic locations and different customer profiles.
