A good place to start would be www.dafonts.com. They have a wide range of fonts, and are easily searchable.

After downloading the customized fonts extract to winrar then select all fonts you want to install then copy and go to control panel and select the font section, after you open it. paste the cutomized font selected; so the font will load to Os and once you opened an applications; a paper work or for design applications it's ready to use..

all of the answers are correct, however the easiest and fastest way is to double click on the font file (.ttf most of the time):

1) you will have a preview of the font

2)you can click the 'install font' button and it will automatically add it to your computer.

You can also create your own font with any design program (very handy if you want to have a specific calligraphic style as a font for arabic for example
