it reminds me of the interesting quote from JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit, "what do you mean? Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?"
Anyway, i think creative ideas will be sorts of actions rather than words, like a cup of coffee or a home made breakfast from your spouse beside your bed before you wake up, or just a rose on your pillow when you open your eyes, may be a soft massage to wake you up, or light music that you like sneaks softly in your ears...
Give them a huge smile garnished with your Good Morning, maybe after watching that pleasant smile, the sad reply get turned to a happiest reply ever! Keep smiling, it matters! Nothing else can multiply your talks more interesting than your own smile and happiness
A very typically Irish way of saying it is: Top of the Morning to you.
Given that this is a job site, I think I much prefer this personal rendition. I do think it's a tad bold of me though.
