Is Email marketing still more effective than social media marketing?

It depends on the business type itself, but in general Social media marketing become more attractive and effective and i think it will be the most effective method within the next5 years.

Email Marketing is the most efficient and economical way of reaching customers. Social media is very expensive and may not be as effective as email marketing is provided that it is designed and send to the right people.

I think Social media is quite past the age of Email Marketing...and email marketing's  glory days are over,because the world is more prone to check deals and reviews on social media rather than Email,and email is only limited mostly to Corporate world.

At a moment there is balance between email marketing and social media marketing with respect to effectiveness. But soon social media will become more effective and result oriented than email marketing.

Yes,  I would say email marketing is still effective. But it depends mainly on your subject line where you get the customer attracted to open your. If customer does not open the mail the sole purpose is lost.

The effectiveness of any digital marketing channel is depend on the type of the business. Both Email Marketing and Social Media can be effective as per the goals of business.

 

Most of the time combination of both will provide more great results. For example for B2B business you can use email marketing + LinkedIn + Twitter and For B2C you can use all or according to your target audience and business goals.

Social medias are much more effective than email marketing, most people will see advertising emails as spam, while a very large majority of people are using one social media or another. Placing offers, product or brand acknowledgment and events in the social medias have much more impact nowadays than emails that will end up in the junk emails.

As per the growing trends in this online industry, every body needs a quality data. Either this can be the promoter or the receiver. Now a days majority of the customer base at least have one google mail account, now google also segregated their mails to PRIMARY, SOCIAL AND PROMOTIONAL. if customer is not opening the promotional tab, the whole campaign is under risk, where as the social media marketing has an credibility to attract and hold the customer for a longer period due to the personal interest of the consumers towards social media.

I can Say at present day mail marketing and social media marketing both have significant role in digital marketing, but in the long run social media marketing will be the money growers in the online industry.

I think email 'Marketing' per say isn't as effective now than in its heyday. However, the age of digital marketing is very much alive when we refer to marketing automation. Therefore in my opinion, the shift has moved from email marketing to now email 'nurturing'.

Nurturing offers far greater approach to tailored messages based on segmentation through automated flows based on behaviour and demographic patterns.

Getting your nurture flows set up correctly and synced to your database of prospects and customers can have desirable effects. Marketo, Hubspot, Eloqua and SIlverpop are here to stay for a reason. So I would say EMAIL 'NURTURING' is very much alive and kicking.
