As a freelance designer how do you manage yourself in dealing with clients?

To give the quality work and on time submission. The client satisfaction is the first thing in my mind whenever I draw or do Artwork. 

First of all, put the customer service ahead and always looking for his satisfaction.Don't sell your reputation for a handful of bucks ! 

in my humble opinion, you need a proper comumunication with the client. So you can deliver it as the client wants, and what you want as an artist. And you should have time management and commitment to your due date. 

With a creative brief and a good feedback everything shall go smoothly, lack of feedback usually lead to unsatisfied results, so we have to ask the clients the right questions at the right time and clarify our points as simple as possible.
