as simple as that the general formula of alkene is CnH2n and for alkyne is CnH2n-2

for example :  C4H8                   C4H6

and both of them have unsaturated bond double bond and triple bond respectively.  and this as theoretical not practical

Alekenes and alkynes both are hydrocarbon and the different is,alkenes have less hydrogen aton to make a bond and alkynes have sufficient hydrogen atom

Alkenes have at least one double bond, while alkyenes have at least one triple bond.

C2H4 IS ALKENE; C2H2 IS ALKYNE

Alkenes have a general formula of CnH2n. While Alkynes have a general formula of CnH2n-2

By IR Spectroscopy :

alkene is unsaturated hydrocarbon has one or more douple bonds between its carbon atoms

its empirical formula CnH2n

c=c appears as a weak or medium intensity stretches around 1600_ 1700 cm–1 in IR spectrum and to be sure look for =C-H bond stretches around 3080 cm–1

Alkyne is unsaturated hydrocarbon also, but has one or more triple bonds between its carbon atoms

its empirical formula CnH2n-2

Carbon carbon triple bond apears as aband around 2100 cm–1

and the terminal alkyne ( C-H bond at the end of a chain where the carbon forms part of the triple bond) stretches around 3300cm–1

Alkenes are the hydrocarbons with double covelant bond like C2H4, while alkynes are hydrocarbons having triple covelant bond e.g C2H2. Alkynes are highly unsaturated hydrocarbons.

Alkene is a hydrocarbon chain with a t least 1 double bond between 2 carbons while alkyne is the same but triple bond instead of double
