An alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current. For reasons of cost and simplicity, most alternators use a rotating magnetic field with a stationary armature.

Alternator, is a part of any generator, basically there are two main parts of generator,1. engine and2. alternator,
1. Engine is a mechanical device
2. Alternator is a electrical device
Both devices are couple with each other by
mechanical pulley, alternator run with engine support and produce electrical power,220 volts to380 volts.
An alternator is to generate electrical energy from mechanical rotation of the engine using the belt in between..
An alternator is electrical generator that converts mechanical rotation to electrical energy, and the most familiar sample is synchronous generator,
it is the power source for car , connected to engines main shaft to produce power, batteries are charged through it .
is an electrical machine that produce an alternating current.
An alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current
An Alternator is an electricity charging device found in automobiles. The working principle of an alternator is a rotating magnetic core (permanent magnet) inside a loop of fixed conductors (copper wires). The current produced this way is an Alternating Current (AC)and thus it is called an Alternator or AC Generator. As the electrical system in an automobile works in a Direct Current (DC), a group of diodes and rectifiers are used to convert the AC generated into a DC. This DC is now used to charge the vehicle's battery while the engine is running, and also powers the electric system of the vehicle.
An alternator is the electrical rotating machine which convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. It generates a.c. voltage/current. It works on the principle of electro-magnetic induction. It is rated in KVA/MVA. Alternators are available in the range from fraction of KVA to hundred or thousand of MVA.
