I am not sure why you want to do this and for what program that is ... I have not worked with these commands before ... however the AutoCad Tutorial can help with this issue

I am not agreed with all answers.

My Answer is if you want to select the last set of objects which you selected before. you need to select the "P" Previous option to select the set of objects. and if you Select the "L" option so this means selection will select the last drawn object or any last selected object not complete the set of object. Suppose you want to erase the4 objects put Erase command and select one by one all4 objects and then deselect. then give again any other erase or move command and then press "p" for previous all set of selection will be selected but if you press "L" then what was the last selected object from4 objects will be selected instead of set of previous selected objects.

The answer is Type L. You apply move or copy command, then press L to select Last selection.
