-For indoor,40mm

-Outdoor,50mm

-Under FGL level with direct contact to soil,75mm

Clea cover depends on concreta thickness and exposure conditions. For slabs,beams and columns it may be20mm to40mm while for huge foundations and buried structures it may be from40mm to80mm depending mostly on size of steel bars and of concrete member.

Nominal Clear cover for slab depends upon the exposure conditions

1.Mild

2.Moderate

3.Severe

4.Very severe and

5.Extreme.

Nominal cover for slabs in Mild Exposure Conditions is20mm and can go up to75mm for Extreme Conditions

incase of fire resistant structures it will vary as per end conditions(simply supported slab or continous slab) ranges between20-55mm  as per Indian standard codes

However more cover assures more durability of Structure.
