How does the learning environment affect the education the child is receiving?

The environment a child is exposed to greatly affects the way he perceives the world. That is why everything should start well at home because whatever a child sees, feels, hears or learns at home he takes with him in the outside world until he grows up. The people around the child are included in the "environment." As said, whatever a child sees from adults he will imitate for he believes that adults are always right. The same goes in school, a child's second home.

In line with this, the learning environment must be conducive. When I say conducive, it does not necessarily mean that the school facilities are state-of-the-art. It is enough that there are plants or trees in the school vicinity. Why should there be plants? Green is a color that soothes the mind. If students see nothing but structures, the more stressed they become. They will be irritable or that they will not be that creative. In addition, if there are trees in a school, there will be additional places to hang out on for students.

Aside from having trees in school, the institution must always be clean or free from clutter. The storage area must be hidden or far from where the students are.

Schools may also have paintings on the walls, or quotes about morals and values, so students will be reminded that it is OK not to perform that well in school or that the aim is not to have perfect scores, but to be molded holistically or be good and productive citizens of the world.

Another part of the environment as mentioned earlier is the people. The facilities may be modern, the teachers may have attained degrees from reputed schools, but non of these matter if the employees are ill-mannered. Students look up to their teachers, and also regard other school employees. If the people in the school exhibit undesirable attitudes, students may think that what those people are doing are right.

Most school administrators think that it is most important to have facilities that are state-of-the-art. While this is somehow true, it should not be forgotten that it is not only the mind that should be satisfied, but also the heart.

A child’s early home environment has a profound effect on his well-being. Beginning in infancy, a problematic home environment can disrupt the brain’s stress response system, reduce the quality of caregiving a child receives, and

interfere with healthy development
