Do you think that 'news' is more social oriented and becoming less what is relevant to society? creating a non questioning and caring society?

Over here people know more about what is happening in the world of entertainment, social lives of celebrities and high profile individuals mostly relating to their exploits, rather than what is happening around the globe that affects us all like wars, deaths, killer diseases, corrupt politicians etc.

Hi Naeem, thanks for responding and yes you are right.
Unfortunately we are slowly being if I can use the term loosely 'brainwashed' by nonsensical, unimportant and social entertainment material.
There are media printed/online that has a full commitment to covering critical issues objectively.
Unfortunately due to pressure and persecution some get shutdown.
Truly sad indeed.

Dear Madam, for me this is another question about freemason games; this is what is it all about from the beginning; to create a non caring society all around the world. And of course Madam, we can fight the idea that we are (all the humans) just Stones on the chessboard "A book by William Jay Carr", everyone can improve his self as a human, and not to be a stone, by knowing exactly what is going on in this golbe. Read about history and Freemasn, ask the right questions, contact the right people, make right researches; these all would do it.

On one hand there is too much of blood and gore and on the other, there is mind numbing entertainment. I too get down and tired of reading news about politics and people dying and prefer to shut off for sometime , while others would prefer to read what Kim Kardashian is upto.

This kind of celebrity culture is a by product of the capitalistic society we live in. If the media doesn't constantly tell us what the boys of One Direction are upto, we wouldn't get infatuated with them and there will be no sales of their products. It's all about money.

In the bigger picture, we the 'sheeple' do what the people in power want us to do and media is a very very powerful tool. *The X-Files theme music*

In my opinion today what the crisis or the rate of frustration is increasing day to day.
that is just due to the lack of Justice. As int the whole world there is no court that is giving in decision in full justice, there is involvement on politics in every Decision of court in high profile cases.when ever the decisions are made without involvement of any political thinking;.i guarantee that these frustration may come in decreasing.

Following social news and the lives of celebrities is a form of escapism.
It could also be that those of us in this part of the world are looking to celebrities as the 'ideal' ambassadors of Western (or Asian) culture in an attempt to mimic their physical being, if not their lifestyle; they are idolised by the media, and painted as being figures who we should emulate.
