Research instrument is the instrument(s) used in collecting the data. Such a description should include how the instrument was developed and the major features of the instrument. The example of the instrument for data collection include the followings: Observation, Checklist, Rating scale, Peer appraisal techniques, Guess who techniques, Socio-metric techniques, Questionnaire and, Likert scale.
While, the research tool, the researcher report the statistical techniques or tools employed in analysing the data. Here, the investigator specify the statistical tools he employed for data analysis. He should ensure that he employs ppropriate statistical tools in order to get valid results. Two types of statistics are at the disposal of the researcher for data nalysis; the descriptive statistics and the inferential statistics.
