The following are the best way to make the incompetent manager to be handled

 

1. Take him through a factual performance review with the manager and let him understood where he stands

2. Engaging in a Mentoring Program

3. Facilitate for a separate Coaching program to bring awareness on what he really missing and let him Identify the solution and commit towards move forward

4. A clear action plan on his deliverables and make him self review to understand his competency and let him acknowledge his own performance gap.

5. After2-3 performance review, if still not attain the desired performance, counsel and chalk out a exit plan.

 

What matters most is the how the manager is handling such incom0petent manger and communication thought out the process makes a difference.
