Your Criminal Law is a public Law which deals with public wrongs, basically State will be one side of the case or state prosecutes the accused. Constitutional law is also a public law, there you are questioning the action/inaction of the Government or State.

Your Civil law's are private law, which deals private wrongs, disputes/litigation between individuals. civil suits, family law, property law's, etc are private laws.
