As a recruiter, what are the most important things you look for in a new hire?

Skills, Experiences, and Education that will match to the the requirement.
If the applicant met the basics requirements then, I will check the personality if it will fit the position.

well it basically depends on the job role which he needs to perform...
for instance if I were to be looking for a Client Relation Executive I would prefer having a candidate who has got effective communication skills (mainly)....
and in case of a Web Developer or Software Programmer I would rather focus on candidates having strong hold on basic fundamentals of the programming languages....
Grades are not the only measure of hiring right candidates ....

In general for any position,sensibility & rationality of the individual would play a significant role.
Further, the individuals interest in taking up the role and desire to demonstrate the same.
To understand the subjectivity of these characteristics, each recruiter/evaluator has his/her own ways of judging.
I prefer to look into the need of the candidate, financial background, needless to say - communication and the words he/she uses.( Words can make or mar the things - which helps us to understand hidden intentions as thoughts won't go beyond words and words won't go beyond thoughts).
