Describe the limitation of VLOOKUP or HLOOKUP function in Excel? What would you use instead and why?

To lookup required data vertically and horizontally. Mostly  used in Audit 

There is no limitation of using those two functions but it is time consuming for large datasets. Instead of this two functions we can use index and match functions to extract in both format horizontal and vertical.

And what if the value you are looking for is at the left of the field you are joining by?
