It depends on the quality of the data you are temporary data, or return to the same data at a later time:

- If the data I will use a temporary Excel.

- But if it was used more frequently than someone who needs it is better database data via access.

It is up to those who trade and deal with this data to find the appropriate way to perform the task

Access.  For bulk data storage, data management, data retrieval, data formation and report generation are fast, easy and reliable.

Both solutions are different and have different uses, together they complement each other.

MS Excel is the basic solution. It is easy and well known. There is only one problem with bigger data sources and calculations.

MS Access is useful for storage and aggregating data (much more comfortable with bigger data sources)

Both are different in use, as Access is database, whereas Excel is spreadsheet for business calculations.
If you are preparing Database record and then want to produce on sheet, Access is there for help you.
But you need calculation, Excel is best.
All depend on your work needs.
Office suit is designed to serve various purposes of business.
Choose wisely.

It depends upon individual's requirements. I have done many projects in Access + VB and Excel+VB.

I have done hardcore programming on both. In my view Microsoft Excel is the best and faster but Excel has some limitations. If you have limited amount of records, data, tables and sheets, Excel is advisable.

By calling Excel best i don't mean Access is not good. Access is also best. but when you requirement  is  full of complex data and complex logical formulas.

One more thing i will say...

You can export access output to excel and manipulating data in excel will be very easy

in compare to manipulating excel data in Access.

Technically stating: MS Excel and MS Access are two different software applications. While Excel is mainly a spreasheet application, Access is an RDBMS (database management software).

Access is therefore definitely preferred over Excel in scenarios where larger amounts of dependent data is to be maintained. However, Access in itself is far from perfect as an RDBMS; though for small sized databases; it may suffice.

i think both of them have their advantages and disadvantages.
If you are looking for a software which can provide you with a list of your customers and suppliers then Access is the recommended one whereas if you preparing expenditure, profit and loss or cash flow then excel is more appropriate.
It all depends what you kind of information you looking for and the way you need to process the data.

By using Access you can manage a database with several users, more size than excel files.

then you can link excel to the access database to monitor simple , graphic reports.

(More interesting job if you link excel to the main database (SQl server or oracle) then you'll have fast, accurate and timely reports...

I think both of them has it field to play in. If you can use both of them in an integration method you will have the best of the two worlds.
